Hello Vintageers!
I love fashion. All kinds of fashion! For me it’s always been the ultimate tactile, moving form of art. A form of art that literally changes every day and is influenced by so many factors.
My philosophy has and will always be “you to you babes”. If trackies and a tee are your fashion statement to the world, then that’s great. No judgement. As long as you feel amazing and you feel your outside advertisement to the world fits your ethos.
Petone is a company that brings out the colour of the year every year. They put a lot of work into coming to their decision based on culture, environments, and trends in the world at that point in time. All genres of designers across the board are extremely influenced by Petone's colour of the year. Petone's colour of the year for 2022 is VERY PERI.
Speaking to CNN about Very Peri, Pantone executive director Leatrice Eiseman said 2022’s colour was “something new”, to match the new world we live in.
"It is literally the happiest and the warmest of all the blue hues,” Eiseman said.
“Because of that red undertone, it introduces an empowering feeling of newness, and newness is what we're looking for... [it] has that sprightly, joyous attitude that we're talking about, that carefree confidence, and creative spirit.”
Whether you love it, hate it or don’t really care, I find it absolutely fascinating. I suppose from a vintage fashion perspective we already know how trends of the time influence our fashion and environments. We vintageers have attached ourselves to certain time frames that we resonate with via design.
I am definitely drawn to the 1940s and late 1970s. Not just for the beautiful lines, shapes and colour of the clothing but also the energy of the time they convey.
So, I hope this blog has inspired you to think about Veri Peri a little and how the colour makes you feel. I have created a Very Peri mood board for you all to enjoy. If you’re up for a little challenge incorporate this delightful shade of purple somewhere into your VOOTD. Be a darling and share a pic with me, I would LOVE to see all of your interpretations because, at the end of the day, it’s all relative.
Lyza XOXO
