Reflecting on 2022 made me aware of the rhythm of my life more so than any other year.
I am in a space where living consciously and the value that brings to my life is such a blessing.
So, I have challenged myself this year in 2023 to push this consciousness a little further.
I am invoking the 1940's mindset of Make do and Mend.
INF 13/144 – ‘Make Do and Mend’ poster, 1939-1945
The government needed everyone in the Second World War to support and take part in the war effort. This included the people back at home as well as the soldiers who were away fighting. People who stayed in Britain and carried on working, along with children who carried on going to school and everyone else who went about their daily lives, were described as people on the ‘Home Front’. The government had many ways of persuading people on the Home Front to support the war. Methods included films, leaflets, and posters. Posters were displayed in public places and were one-way keeping people’s spirits up and encouraging them to behave in a certain way.

Yes, it was England during a war. Yes, I don't HAVE to in this day and age but I NEED to.
I need to be in a place where I question my buying power and its ripple effects.
I need to learn to go without at times and redefine my wants and needs.
I need to detox the tech and be with my creative, free self more.
I have no idea what this is going to look like. And for many, this will look different. I am not only going to focus this mend it, make, make do philosophy to just clothing but all aspects of current-day living.
My challenge is set.
For 1 year, from January to December 2023 I am mending, making, and learning to make do.
I am nervous and excited and already have FOMO, lol.
I intend to check in with a Mend it, make it, make do blog at the start of every month.
So, please come along for the ride and support me, join in or judge me from afar. :)
